<h5>Have a clear objective</h5>
Michael’s motivation has varied widely depending on which movie you see. But whether it&#8217;s to get revenge or reunite with his family, in order to achieve his goal he needed a clear objective &#8212; kill his sister Laurie. Many business owners tend to think about their marketing objective in broad terms like “get leads”. Sure, that’s a good goal, but that’s not enough to formulate an effective strategy for a campaign. Drill down and get specific.

<h5>Be persistent</h5>
You mailed a brochure and didn’t get a single lead, so you won’t be doing that again. Right?
<p align="left"> </p>
Wrong! What if Michael went back to the asylum after Dr. Loomis shot him six times in the chest? Think about it: there is someone who needs your product or service, they just may not need it right now. You have to continue to get your marketing message to him and when he’s ready to buy, your latest message will be sitting right there in front of him. Marketing is not a series of isolated events. It is an ongoing process that requires commitment.

<h5>Listen to your audience</h5>
Michael never said a word, he listened. And by doing so he was always able to find his sister, no matter where she went into hiding.

Listen to what people are saying about your company and about your competitors. You can keep your company image clean by responding to poor comments and thanking people for praise. You can also find weaknesses in your competition and strike at their achilles heel. Social media outlets like Twitter and Facebook are a great place to keep tabs.

<h5>Get knocked down? Get back up!</h5>
Marketing can be overwhelming to say the least. There are many obstacles to knock down your enthusiasm and when you engage in campaigns (like email marketing) that yield a less than 1% response rate, it’s easy to want to just throw in the towel. But whatever the reason for your funk, be it a financial setback, laziness or whatever, remember Michael. He always gets back up.

<h5>Don’t rush it</h5>
It’s amazing how Michael never runs after anyone. He walks slow and steady, and while the people he’s chasing are running around frantically looking for a solution to their problem, he always manages to keep up. As I said before, marketing is a process. It takes patience and dedication. Be patient and you will reach your goals.

When Michael’s in town, everyone knows it &#8212; and they won’t soon forget it. Whether you are sending a newsletter or hosting a webinar, be memorable. Give your prospects an experience they won’t forget and leave behind a story that has to be retold.
